2019 Fall Salmon Pics

It was not the best year chasing Kings this year, I personally think the high water and a smaller run from lack of plantings took a hold of our river this year.  However the Lake Michigan had a very good bait fish population.  This population of bait fish combined with less pressure led to big Kings.  I would say 80% of what we landed was over 20 pounds.  Here are a few of those River Monsters!!!

Chicagoland Sports show

Today I spent the day getting ready for the Chicagoland sport show.  Should be a great weekend as the weather looks to be ok and decent enough that a lot of people should be here.  I feel lucky as I have several past clients , now friends that will be stopping by.  My hope is to update the sight as the weekend goes by.  If your around come check out the show.

A father and a Son battle the cold and Steel and a Rod?

Today I had the pleasure of taking David Leach and his son Nick out on the mighty Mo.  Nick is soon to be a GVSU grad and thats makes he and I “LAKERS 4 LIFE”   The temp at 8:20 this morning was 18 degrees.  And after about 10 minutes in  my boat floor was a skating rink.  The action was hot to start and hot to end.  However the craziest catch of the day was the ROD AND REEL COMBO  that David landed.  Great day on the water guys.

Novi Outdoorama

The Novi Outdoorama was a huge success on so many levels.  Most importantly I got to share my love of fishing with many great people.  I meet some great possible clients and some wonderful vendors. I reconnected with some old classmates from high school and college.  Brad and Ashly treated me like a king.  If that was not enough I even booked some trips.  I actually had a very good time, to the point I almost miss not being there.  I will be on the water later this week and I am headed to The Birch Run Boat and outdoor show on March 11 and 12.

Show Time Novi Outdoorama

Off to Novi I go to meet lots of new people ans share my love and knowledge of fishing.  These shows are a lot of work but the friendships with other vendors and people you meet are worth it.  I mean 40,000 like minded people in the same room for 4 days….AWESOME!!!   If you are coming down let me know as I have a few free tickets left and would love to give them away.

A Captains Note

Any captain worth his bait will tell you I would rather be on the water then on my computer…that is me.  However I understand that as much as I like the water I need to high light what we are doing on the water.  I would love to give my individual trips more attention, and that is a goal.  However I want to get the page up and running.  So what you will see are some season highlight posts and then you will see some actually trip posts. This will allow me to keep fishing while still honoring the fisherman and their great fish and fights from my boat.  At the same time not boring anyone to much.  So the upcoming posts will be highlight mixed in with more detailed reports.  So here we go, I hope you enjoy these as much as we did hooking and landing them.  Enjoy. TIGHT LINES   Captain Chris

2017 Ice Season

We fish it all at Hooked Guide Service.  I have not done any guided ice trips but that may change in the future.  There is something about being on the ice.  I describe it as the loudest silence I have ever heard.  Ever sound is so magnified, crisp and clear.  The small tackle matched up with a Hummingbird flasher makes for a very entertaining day on the ice.  I did not get a lot of pics as I fish a lot on my own but I did get a few.  Enjoy!!!
